A Journey to Remember:
Easington Colliery Band’s Unforgettable Ride with Sam Fender

There are moments in a band’s history that feel almost too magical to be real—and for us at Easington Colliery Band, this past year has been exactly that. From the quiet pride of recording *Remember My Name* for Sam Fender’s new album *People Watching*, to the thunderous applause at London Stadium and the emotional homecoming at St James’ Park, we are overwhelmed with gratitude, excitement, and sheer disbelief.

A Call That Changed Everything

It all began with a phone call in early 2023—an invitation to collaborate on a track inspired by Sam’s grandparents. The song, ‘Remember My Name’, was deeply personal, and we were honoured to bring our brass sound to such a heartfelt piece. Recording near Morpeth, we were struck by Sam’s humility and sincerity. He even wore one of our band uniforms throughout the session, blending in like one of our own.

To be part of a project that meant so much to him—and to us—was a privilege we’ll never forget. We kept the collaboration under wraps for over two years, bursting with pride and anticipation.

From Studio to Stadium

Then came the next surprise: an invitation to perform *Remember My Name* live with Sam at London Stadium. Standing on that stage, surrounded by tens of thousands of fans, was surreal. The sound of our brass echoing through the stadium, the lights, the energy—it was electric.

A Homecoming Like No Other

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were asked to join Sam again at St James’ Park. For a band rooted in the North East, performing at the heart of Newcastle was more than just a gig—it was a homecoming. The emotion in the crowd, the pride in our community, and the love for Sam’s music made it a night we’ll carry with us forever.

Thankful Beyond Words

We are so thankful to Sam Fender for believing in us, for giving us the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful, and for reminding the world of the power of music to connect, heal, and inspire. We’re also grateful to our supporters, our families, and everyone who’s cheered us on through this incredible journey.

From the first note in the studio to the final bow at St James’ Park, this has been a chapter we’ll never forget. And if this is what’s possible when passion meets opportunity, we can’t wait to see what comes next’
